BIO Outwardly calm, collected, and calculating, the Doctor claimed to be a researcher before becoming a commander and strategist for the military operations of Rhodes Island Pharmaceuticals, an organization dedicated to providing care for those infected with Oripathy. Though they may sometimes come off as indifferent or cold thanks to their perpetual mask and a slightly flat affect, they are in fact boundlessly idealistic, deeply compassionate, and self-sacrificial. The Doctor is passionately emotional and cries easily. The Doctor believes in love so deeply that it hurts them to their core. Most of the Doctor's past is shrouded in mystery because of their amnesia, but they are generally capable and well-meaning, if something of a workaholic. The Doctor's desire to help their patients and friends is entirely real, but several characters have noted their capacity to become a "chessmaster" and "war machine" with no consideration for the pieces on their chessboard and a tendency to gamble on incredibly reckless stratagems. Prior to their amnesia, the Doctor was described as a "hardass" who "was acting weirder and weirder" before the events that caused their memory loss. The truth is that they were once a Predecessor by the name of Oracle — the last surviving member of a civilization so advanced as to be a god to the modern people of Terra — but the story of their broken promises and repeated betrayals is really too long to repeat here. In the modern era, they are notably eccentric, to the point of... you know what? I'm just going to let Kal'tsit explain the Doctor to you. APPEARANCE The Doctor typically wears a full-body medical suit complete with hood, mask, and gloves; this is stated to be for recuperative reasons, and the Doctor apparently only takes off their clothing to sleep in the privacy of their own quarters. (The Doctor's poor health seems to have been remedied somewhat; nowadays, it seems that they are simply used to their uniform.) Beneath their medical suit, the Doctor has white hair, dark grey eyes, and a fairly delicate figure. They might be described as conventionally handsome, with a face that would probably get them gendered disparagingly as a "pretty-boy" by most strangers. They are typically quite unwilling to undress in front of others, so your character is not too likely to see them without the hood and mask, but sometimes they do take the hood off. SEX AND GENDER In canon, the Doctor is only referred to in gender-neutral ways and uses they/them pronouns in the English localization. I write the Doctor as being nonbinary, though they won't elaborate on the finer points of their sex and gender unless it's absolutely necessary. He/him or they/them pronouns are preferred, but they won't object to she/her. In terms of physical sex, I am completely flexible in all directions. I prefer to write the Doctor as being male-bodied with male genitalia and/or male-bodied with female genitalia, and this is what I will default to in most settings, but I can and will write a female-bodied Doctor upon request. PLATONIC CONTACT Sure, no problem... as long as you don't mind hugging them through the hazmat suit. SHIPPING & SMUT I am open to ships and smut with most Arknights characters! The Doctor is rather asexual by default, but they are deeply romantic and very much capable of enjoying sex; they just don't tend to have sexual interests of their own, and have a somewhat overly clinical relationship with sex and gender, but will develop more of an interest in sex over the course of a relationship with someone else. If you would like your character to pursue a ship with them, then by all means let me know and I can lean in. Conversely, if I think our character chemistry is ripe for a ship, I'll ask you first before proceeding. My favorite ships include SilverAsh/Doctor and Młynar/Doctor. When it comes to smut, the Doctor is sexually flexible; dom, sub, top, and bottom dynamics are all available, though I'll default to whatever seems most natural in our thread unless you have a preference. PREFERRED THREADS Just to be transparent, I strongly prefer tagging castmates with this character! I usually only play cross-canon with canons I already know or can get the gist of very quickly, so if you hit me up for a cross-canon thread and I'm not keen on it, I'll let you know, and I promise it's nothing personal; I'm probably just not familiar with your canon. Otherwise, I'm mostly seeking Arknights castmate interactions for the Doctor right now. Would love to play out things like regular medical check-ups (giving or receiving), and Operators struggling with the Doctor's perpetual inability to either sleep or relax. OTHER I am generally a slow RPer, as a word of warning. While I can turn tags around in a day or two sometimes, you can more often expect me to take anywhere between 1-2 weeks for a tag. Arknights is a wide-ranging canon that is difficult to review, so please forgive any slip-ups in my understanding of the lore. The Doctor has no canon or commonly accepted fanon name, as most Arknights characters simply refer to them as "Doctor." I will be playing them as just "the Doctor," but if you play a character with a strong compulsion to call them by a given name, let me know and I will randomly generate an appropriate name for the Doctor for our thread.
